I can’t be everywhere with my camera; in fact most of the events I get to are in the Houston area. If you have pics from events I haven’t covered, feel free to forward your favorites to info@runningacrosstexas.com so we can post them. Click thumbnails for a larger image.

Looking for older races? Check out these road race photos older than March, 2010. Click the Photo button at the top of this page (or the “Older Texas Race Photos” links above for more recent events. As always, if you are a race participant and want a huge full-size pic without the watermark and cropped to your order, it will be available for a small fee to cover my expenses.

Sunday, April 03, 2011 - Gateway to the Bay Triathlon

This was another well-staged event from Onurmark Productions. The swim was an interesting point-to-point course in the bay. The athletes were ferried from Kemah (home of the famed and highly profitable Boardwalk) out into the bay on the “Colonel”, a paddlewheel vessel hailing from Galveston.

It was a multi-wave start with the pros going first. And yes, there was even one guy using a snorkel. I’m surprised the USAT rules would permit it, but there you have it.

The day was a bit humid, but almost everybody was still doing well at mile 5 of the run course, even after tackling the Kemah Bridge.
